It's unfair to treat people differentially by race. Wealth, that's another story. The S.Ct says so: wealth is not a "suspect class" that gets "strict scrutiny" (meaning that the courts will strike the classification down as unconstitutional, by and large). It's OK to treat otherwise similarly situated people differentially by race as long as there is a rational (i.e., in law, not utterly insane even if pretty stupid) basis for doing so. Because hell, maybe money can't buy you love, but if it can't buy you admission to Yale over better qualified students of any race, what good is it?
jks
