But Kristof, ever the Timesman, cannot or will not connect the obvious dots:
"While President Bush has been eager to take note of Iraqi atrocities against the Kurds, the West has never been so outraged by similar Turkish atrocities."
The West (i.e. the US) was not only not outraged, it actively supported Turkish atrocities and supplied Turkey with the means to slaughter Kurds. From where does Kristof think the Turkish state got its hardware?
