Much of the reporting on continental Europe in the UK and US is stupefyingly wrong, or poisoned by Cold War toxins. This is a fine example of a piece which is really describing 1991, instead of 2003.

Polls say and demos prove the Spanish people are dead set against the petro-slaughter. So are the Eastern Europeans, by and large. So are the Northern Europeans. So are the southern Europeans. So are the western Europeans. So are most sentient life-forms on this planet.
