from the New York Times website:
Opinions Begin to Shift as Public Weighs Costs of War
(excerpt)
The percentage of Americans who said they expected a quick and successful
effort against Iraq dropped to 43 percent on Monday night from 62 percent on
Saturday. And respondents who said the war was going "very well" dropped 12
points, to 32 percent, from Sunday night to Monday night, an erosion that
followed an increase in allied casualties and the capture of several
Americans.

A drop of 12 percent in one day should cause concern among the image
managers. While these numbers don't talk about support it does reflect how
the course of events is being interpreted by the public and runs counter to
the "everythings a-o-k" press statements from Rummy and crew.
Bush's approval numbers are still high, kind of a disconnect there.
