To win consent, you would have to give, and yet the USA is the world's largest debtor nation, sucking capital from the rest of the world (Cf. <http://www.epinet.org/webfeatures/snapshots/archive/2002/0703/snap07032002.html>). The USA lost its economic hegemony. What it still has is the sword that supports the dollar. -- Yoshie
