Can you recall a mental and moral collapse so swift and total as Hitch's? He is positively reveling in stupidity and craven abjection to power. Even the old ex-Trots, Burnham and (James) Rorty and Sidney Hook, maintained a certain degree of self-respect, and trod a much more tortuous path to the other side.
