Malaysia March surplus up at 6.3 bn ringgit

Malaysia posted a trade surplus of 6.3 billion ringgit ($1.7 billion) in March 2003, up from 4.93 billion in February, and 4.91 billion ringgit in March last year, according to preliminary data released on Friday by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
Exports rose 4.6 per cent to 32.0 billion ringgit in March from the same month a year earlier, while imports were up 0.3 per cent year-on-year to 25.7 billion ringgit, the ministry said.
A Reuters poll of 10 economists predicted a 1.2 per cent year-on-year drop in March exports and a 4.6 per cent fall in imports.
