I suspect, though, that it might increase protests against current US 
policy. The bulk of the non-religious members of the local peace and 
anti-war groups were opposed to war and imperialist actions because they 
felt that it would create more terrorist incidents. IIRC, the polls also 
demonstrated this same phenom.
