I don't think so. They're just racists who want to restore a Plato-to-NATO curriculum. They haven't got the faintest about history, scholarship, culture, etc. and they don't want to know. They don't want anyone teaching Said or Fanon or Hurston or Wright. They don't want anyone questioning the cannon -- you can make that look like elitism, but in this case it's not. It's just badly concealed racism.
