Watching Gore Vidal on CSPAN2 just now (rebroadcast of some
Nation something or other intro'd by Herself on 4-may-03),
he just said that Hitchens had "appointed himself Vidal's
literary successor".  Hmm.  I'd always heard Vidal had
anointed him personally...

Maybe Msgr Peter K. can enlighten us?  Or has he disappeared
during my absence and Hitch's capitulation?
