John,  I'm not an American, but even I am aware of many more allegations
against Sharpton than the Tawana Brawley issue.

To me a cynical populist politician is a cynical populist politician, even
if their power base is ethnic or other cultural minorities. My local MP is
gay and nominally left wing, but these things do not stop him from also
being a shallow, ignorant yuppie.
