You think that'd stop the Reps? They'd do it again. What's striking about the Dems isn't their lack of backbone or principle, which is structurally determined by its role as a party of capital that has to pretend otherwise, but their absolute lack of partisanship. They restrain themselves, act polite, go by the rules - and the Reps will go nuclear every time.
