Giant has a heavily unionized workforce. All of their retail stores in Baltimore are union. None of Whole Food's stores are. Giant workers have won for themselves such things as: job security, a living wage, good health care, a defined benefit pension plan. Whole Foods workers have none of this. And there's little about Whole Food's anti-union campaign which can be considered "mild."
