Imagine that as of Sept. 11, 2001 there had been another 1500 activists around the country, experienced in attempting (though with little success) to build mass movements of various sorts, and having a handful of contacts each with people they had worked with over the preceding decade.
Or imagine that there had been practically no such activists, aside from a few die-hard pacifists and "marxist-leninists." Imagine that all those who did exist had disappeared into the DP a decade ago.
There's a fucking lot to lose.
