PETER Arnett and other journalists who can't remember where their loyalties lie could learn a thing or two from William Randolph Hearst. In a memo written by hand in the late 1930s to his London bureau chief - which just went on sale for $12,500 at momentsintime.com - the legendary publisher advises: "The foreign correspondent must be a loyal & honorable citizen of his own land appreciating fully the influence of his labors & his views upon the opinions of his readers and the possible effect upon the attitude & acts of his fellow citizens in times of crises."
