this business of dumping on cops is very much like the highly developed intellectual mindset that finds troops-armies are killers and responsible for war...these attitudes prevail among many who violently struggle with keyboards for a living...

bulletin: most members of the armed forces never see violence, and most cops are never involved in violence..result: a relatively low percentage of cops and "warriors" are killed, under normal circumstances...cab drivers and store clerks may be murdered more often (maybe), but they are not hired to defend the system with their lives, that is just an unfortunate aspect of being a worker in the system...so cops, and soldiers, have it easy, and are isolated brutes, in a society of poets, philosophers and curators?

but how many of us, especially those with graduate degrees, would join, or apply for jobs in either of those two sectors of our blessed political economy? especially at those moments when they - cops/soldiers - actually have to face the possibility of death?

there are assholes everywhere, but those most responsible for creating the material reality in which armed assholes perform, are those privileged to remain unarmed, because others do the shit-death work for them...
