I don't agree. Maybe someday the state can wither away -- maybe. In the meantime, a state that allows everybody equal and well-informed say over the basic patterns of socio-economic investment would be socialist.
As I've said, due to the scale and complexity of modern human societies, I personally doubt there will ever again be a stateless society.
And, for that matter, who would really want to give up the state? How would a stateless society respond to a major earthquake? Wait for word to spread and hope that people would react for the best, all laissez-faire? Personally, I prefer to keep some bureaucracy going.
Communism is an ethic; socialism is a possible form of society.
