I first heard the term applied to Rush Limbaugh's fans; they were "dittoheads" because they simply repeated whatever Rush had said, as the mark " in a column indicates a repetition of whatever is in the row above. I think it's a term Rush's fans apply to themselves with pride. Go figure.
