Right -- he staged plenty of them.
Would Bush and his people try to cancel the election if they feared they might lose? I doubt it very much, but even if they tried, how exactly would they do it? I can see Bush making a speech on network TV announcing that the election would not be held; it would probably be interpreted by most people as the final sign that he had gone bonkers. And where would he get the troops to enforce his proclamation, with half the military or more out and about the world, bringing freedom to the huddled masses?
