Listening to Charlie Parker on this warmish, sunny Manhattan day, please excuse duplications, and please DO send this on to your own lists.

Ironically I got news of the March 20th demo, being called by United for Peace and Justice, while I was in Japan last week. Before Thanksgiving and Christmas "lock us down", it is very important that people put March 20th on their calendars. United for Peace and Justice, a broad coalition of peace and progressive groups in the US, has called for a Global Day of Action against War and Occupation in Iraq on March 20th. In the US protests will also take on the war at home, the Patriot Act, mass detentions, and the need to shift funds from military spending to vital domestic needs.

UPFJ has gotten indications of support from a range of groups, including groups in Europe and Asia.

Please do two things (this is going to almost everyone on my email lists, so some of you may have more conservative politics and don't want to do any of these things - that's OK, its a democracy).

First, contact UFPJ for information and as soon as possible get your local, state, or national organization to endorse March 20th and let UFPJ know: Email: m20endorse at unitedforpeace.org or call 212 / 868.5545.

Second, send this post or your own version of it to friends who are wondering what the peace movement will do next.

March 20th will be many mobilizations in many cities around the world, similar to February 15th of this year.

Peace, David McReynolds
