[lbo-talk] Lind

"Cultural conservatism" is, no doubt, a fundamentally racist concept, as its practitioners always base their stuff on the axiom that "Western culture" is under attack and must be defended. Of course, when pushed, they define "Western culture" as the stuff that white people invent. Repugnant as it is historically wrong...

Nevertheless, I look at CounterPunch as a quirky mixed bag. About every 20th thing they post is marvelous, while every 5th is crackpot. I accept this tolerance of crackpots, as well as Cockburn's personal theory of left-right cooperation (I think he thinks he'll convert some of the rightists by being open to them), as something with which I disagree, but don't see the need to fight against. I wouldn't pee on Lind if his heart was on fire, and I wouldn't offer him a comma in any publication I edited, but, IMHO, this is a live-and-let-live thing. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug Henwood" <dhenwood at panix.com> To: <lbo-talk at lbo-talk.org> Sent: Tuesday, October 14, 2003 7:18 PM Subject: Re: [lbo-talk] Lind
