Think of Pascal's wager: if you're religious and there's a God, you get
Heaven, but if you're not religious and there is, you go to Hell.
Therefore, it's better to be religious.
Of course, this presumes that there's only one religion-- there are many _wrong_ ones to choose. So being a Roman Catholic is like betting on your own damnation.
