It's really appalling that the Times can be vilified by the right as some sort of socialist rag and then allow planted stories like this to become headliners: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/16/international/middleeast/16ARMS.html
It's shocking that we have not asked ourselves how not to repeat the mistake of supporting criminals like Saddam Hussein by analyzing how we supported him, how much and why the people who did it thought it was a good idea. Oh, then agan, maybe it isn't all that surprising.
