Of course it's disrespectful. That's the point: Santorum deserves no respect. And he should not be heckled or have his mic cut. The latter is a free speech issue, the former is not. They didn't choose him, they don't have to honor him.

Silent protests, from walkouts to quitely standing and turning your back to the speaker, are rather old forms of making public your opposition to someone or something without resorting to heckling. If the anti-PC police have added it to their list of tyrannies, it's and indictment of them, not the protests.
