Yes, I have political scores to settle with ANSWER, but I think that my estimates have been pretty much on the money based on first hand observations and other evidence.

--like your claim that only 10k showed up, eh? -0--------------------

Last time I checked, Newsday is not a newspaper based in DC

--you mean only journalists from Washington DC based newspapers are qualified to do headcounts....wow...some theory. ----------------

Looks like you are foaming at the mouth here. I don't see how this relates to NPR and I think everybody agrees that this protest will be forgotten within the week. I'm sure that the Bush administration didn't pay any attention to it.

--well...npr thought it important enough a demo that it was worth belittling. the Bush administration may not have been impressed by the #s, perhaps, perhaps not, but you can be sure they notice the numbers of vets and even more important the military families involved in the protest. -----------------------

Sure, I know what could be done to be more effective, but these Washington protests done ANSWER-style are just a waste of movement resources and time.

--really? what have the anarchists done that is an effective alternative lately in order to end the occupation? -------------------------

Compare the February 15th protests to yesterday's ANSWER fiasco. Figure it out yet?

--you must be kidding. it's been six months since the invasion...i'd say 30k isn't that bad considering the dispirited sense among anti-war folks after the invasion began. my guess is as the US deaths increase (and they will of course, now at an average of 7-10 a week) the ground for building off of yesterday's protest will grow...
