Izzat so? Well, if Leo Strauss was a "philosopher" then I would have to
accord the same honor to the estimable Phineas T. Barnum, who first
propounded the theory at the core of Straussian thought that "there is a
sucker born every minute." (Fairness obligates me to point out that Barnum
never actually made the famous "sucker born" remark, though it certainly
summed up his worldview -- what he did state was : "People like to be
humbugged.")
