I feel I learned all I needed to know about Paul Kennedy from his review last year of "What Went Wrong?" by Bernard Lewis. (Still online at http://www.nytimes.com/2002/01/27/books/review/ 27KENNEDT.html?ex=1062907200&en=7fe3b3673b005950&ei=5070)

It's interesting to me how the view of people with power towards those with less is always the same, no matter who the people with less power are. For instance, I'm sure Kennedy's advice for the Arab and Muslim worlds is to "get into the real world, and cease their obsessive anti-America delusions." Forty years ago his advice to black Americans would have been to get into the real world, and cease their obsessive anti-white delusions. And so on.
