When the Mujuahedeen were fighting the Soviet occupation, they were
"freeedom
fighters" in the same sense as the NLF--which is why it's very stupid to
apply the term "freedom fighters" to any group whose ideology is essentially
anti-liberal. Why not stick to the more neutral "anti-occupation forces"?

CB: Actually, when the Mujuahaedeen were fighting the Soviets, the "NLF" was
the Afghan government. The Mujuahedeen were the equivalent to the Contras in
Nicaragua and Angola, counterrevolutionaries armed and supplied by the U.S.
