Some shoot the messenger when they don't like the message; a few 
shoot the messenger when they like the message (or at least can't 
argue with it) -- Bring the Troops Home Now, End the Occupation, Free 
Iraq, Reparations to Iraqis! -- but don't like the messenger 
regardless.  In the latter case, flames tend to be more incendiary.
