"From a distance it looks like Calif. is becoming completely unhinged. Does it look different up close?"

yes...the disgusting dennis miller as a political candidate seems as american as apple pie used to be...

this new yorker finds california no more or less disturbed than the rest of amerrycar, and in some cases perhaps more progressive, even as it becomes more reactionary...what are ya gonna do...

have no recollection of a governor's race in new york or anywhere else in the usa in which not one but two anti-establishment candndaites were given equal debate space with the regulars of the money party...and both camejo and huffington have scored points with a substantial number of people who previously never heard of them, or their critical perspectives...

I find all this democratic panic propaganda about a circus, a plot and a conspiracy to be a bad joke, unfortunately, given the million dollar media barrage, not laughed at by many...the crooks on the dem. side of the money party are doing their best to outspend and out bullshit the crooks on the rep. side...so what else is new?

we have a lousy governor who gained election by spending money on ads that helped destroy a republican in the primaries, who would probably have beaten him in the general election...gray davis is a disgrace, and only a democratic true believer can defend him, at best, as being a lesser evil polio when placed against a greater evil cancer...

once again, the right wing took action when there was no will or ability or existence on the left, and a rich guy financed a recall petition campaign which was strongly supported by more signers, and excitement, than any petition drive I've ever seen before ...

if the dems lose and the schmuck actor wins, big deal...there is a dem majority in the senate and assembly and if they get a spine transplant they can stop anything he she or it attempts...politics as usual, nothing new, and this state is only as unhinged as this nation...

the U.S. deficit is much bigger and U.S. foreign policy is worse, dumber, and more deadly , than california's...when new york was bigger, it may have been even dumber than california...now california is bigger, so it's possibly even dumber than new york...big deal...
