I was at 53rd and 2nd? (outside an au bon pain) somewhere around 2, and I really thought it was going to turn into a riot. However, I haven't been to many of these, so maybe it was just my inexperience. People were on kiosks and police lorries, chanting "Our Streets!" and there was a lot of shoving at the police line; it looked like the barricades broke, but the police kept their cool, overall. We calmed down a couple kids who were freaking out; and then kept going towards the rally. The mood was totally upbeat everywhere. My favorite slogans were "The French Hate Us Because They're Free" and a burly guy walking through Grand Central Station with a tee-shirt that said "Lesbians For Peace."

Do you Yahoo!?
