<P>I think that there are regional differences....the GOP South and the GOP West are working class. They come from a different cultural mileau and seemingly get a sense of pride from being the biggest baddest dog on the planet. Depsite the fact that they are told what to do (as individuals) they take solace in the fact that no one, especially not the French, tell America what to do......
<P>I think it was Camus that wrote about why men owned dogs....because they needed someone to kick around as they got around by the world. That seems to be the psychology here as well......That seems to be the motivation behind the Reagan Democrat or the Dixiecrats.....
