HindustanTimes.com Friday, September 19, 2003 Samsung to move PC plant to China: Report Reuters Seoul, September 18 South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, the world's top memory chip maker, plans to move its personal computer manufacturing plant to China by 2005 to slash costs, a local newspaper said on Thursday. "We plan to bolster Chinese operations by 2005, centering on our Suzhou plant which has one million (PC manufacturing) capacity yearly," a unnamed Samsung official was quoted as saying by the Korea Economic Daily in its early Friday edition. The move was aimed at better competition with bigger rivals such as Apple Computer Inc, Dell Inc, and Hewlett-Packard Co, the official said.
