Not once but thrice! Gawd, this is vile, even by Nader's proudly nativist standards. The Texas Republican Party should only be name-checked positively if one is appealing to white supremacists, Christian zealots, or other cryptofascists. I bet the "traditional conservatives" Nader imagines he's appealing to would be appalled at the planks in the Texas GOP platform: That "defiant" document Nader admires so calls for the elimination of Social Security, the IRS, the EPA, and the departments of labor, interior, health and human services, and, of course, education; the posting of military personnel at borders to keep out immigrants; the outlawing of all abortion; mandating religion be taught in public schools; making "American English" the U.S.'s official language; repealing the minimum wage and making Texas's right-to-work laws the national standard... okay, though I've just skimmed the surface, I gotta stop before I become ill. For those with constitutions stronger than mine, you can read the entire nauseating document at <http://texasgop.org/library/RPTPlatform2002.pdf> . Did I mention that it also encourages hate crimes against gays?

Good one, Ralph.

Eric
