Bush invaded Iraq because...well, because Iraq needed to be invaded. And, that was about as far as the weak light of the Bush mind penetrated into the abyss.

While the invasion was no trouble, the occupation is trouble. That's why the first Bush, genius that he was, invaded Iraq but didn't occupy Iraq.

The trouble with the occupation is, it's an occupation and occupations are trouble. When there is trouble the US military shoots at trouble. Since they are in Iraq, they kill Iraqis everywhere they shoot. Killing Iraqis in Iraq breeds trouble. The US military shoots to stop trouble. And, so there you have it.

That's it. There isn't any more.

It's about oil. It's about Israel. It's about Palestine. It's about Terrorism. It's about 9/11. It's about al Qaeda. It's about Weapons of Mass Destruction. It's about Democracy. It's about Empire.

Everybody's logic is impeccable.

Nada y pues nada, es nada...

========================================

Except everyone has left the incompetent and rapidly aging gerontocracy of Saudi Arabia out of the discussion.

Imagine SA going offline for a year or two due to internal turmoil in, say, 2009.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a base or two in a neighboring country that can rapidly deploy in the service of a faction that isn't virulently anti-US and/or anti-modernity?

I want to know what was in those 28 pages..............and a lot more................
