A Quinnipiac poll from the same time gives a breakdown by race:

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x5619.xml

Do you support or oppose the United States having gone to war with Iraq?

Total White Black Hispanic

Support 50 63 40 49

Oppose 44 33 54 43

DK/NA 6 3 5 8

Which does seem to support Yoshie. On the other hand, the first national poll I pulled off Google (http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=179) for April 2003 gives

Decision to go to war was..

White Black Hispanic

Right 77 44 67

Wrong 18 44 25

DK 5 12 8

which shows that New Yorkers were substantially more likely than others of the same race to oppose the war.

Why would we want to emphasize the first set of facts rather than the second?

Josh

(sorry for the crappy formatting. Is there a good way to post tables to the list?)
