Yeah, the big direction that Sun is taking now is "service on demand", in which clients would not necessarily buy software (or even servers) but use them on demand as needed. It's funny that I dont see our old slogan around anymore: "the network is the computer". Everything is being on one big computer and the failover is handled by clustering. And even the organizational model at Sun has gone toward centralization as opposed to small working units. What used to be a relatively dynamic and, at times, fun place to work is looking more and more like the old IBM...I wouldn't be surprized to see blue blazers roaming the halls any day now.
