Ah, Doug -- I thought you were talking about Fonzie, Potsie, Richie and Ralph Malph. I was all set to explain why the early filmed episodes with no audience (but with a laughtrack) were superior to the more popular live audience, three-camera sitcom set-up, and how the characters became contemporary cartoons once the initial 50s nostalgia had been mined. But it's some economic thread -- on LBO no less!
