I will take it upon myself to clarify and summarize a big deal of what happened to cause the split: Politically and Personally.

There's one major thing that makes up the man of Brian Becker and the other fallen comrades, which is ego. They believe ANSWER is theirs, and all theirs. I live in Boston, which was unaffected by the split. In Boston, we had no help what-so-ever by the Beckerites and their takeover of national ANSWER to help mobilize for the DNC march. They even told us that "Boston ANSWER does not exist." Well, then I must be blind. THEY THREATENED TO TAKE US TO COURT, TOO! That's the jist of that, which is just some current gossip for you all to chew on. Anyway, Dick Becker and Gloria La Riva had some issues with John Parker developing Black community based outreach within ANSWER in LA. He was attacked for this. He gave a class on the National Question because of this. He was attacked again.

There some other personal issues between Brian, Dick, Gloria, and a few others between a few comrades of color within the leadership of ANSWER and WWP. They accused us of reverse racism because of our position on the National Question.

The personal turmoil continued to persist, but there were no political feuds surfacing. Brian stopped coming to ANSWER steering committee meetings. He isolated himself, while Dick, Gloria, Sarah Sloan, and others in LA were isolating themselves also.

When discussion started about running candidates, Monica and Gloria were asked to run again. Gloria for months was "thinking about it" until the day the sent their resignation letters which contained no political content or political reason for leaving, just personal attacks on individual members of WWP. They made no attempt to raise any political concerns with the party what-so-ever. Instead, they backed off, politically silent.

They raided the ANSWER LA office right after they split and stole everything the wanted within the office. They also continued the lease, which had risen, forcing everyone else to pay for what they've done. They also took with them the two richest members and highest financial contributors to WWP. As a result, WWP is in somewhat of a financial crisis. To me, I don't consider it a big loss. WWP is a working class party.
