Aug 20 2004 11:51AM Withdrawal of Georgian troops from S. Ossetia incomplete - Nabzdorov TSKHINVALI. Aug 20 (Interfax) - The withdrawal of Georgian troops from the self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia has not been completed yet, Maj. Gen. Svyatoslav Nabzdorov, commander of the join peacekeeping forces in the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict zone, told Interfax on Friday.
"The withdrawal of Georgian units is in progress. Georgia is meeting this commitment. But it is difficult to say now how many servicemen have left [the conflict zone]. Georgian army convoys are continuing to move toward Gori," he said.
"The beginning of the withdrawal process has made it possible to start setting up joint outposts of the joint peacekeeping forces and OSCE observers on heights and the Tskhinvali bypass road," Nabzdorov said.
