Polarized, eh?  I guess the great consensus-finder Alan Wolfe wasn't there 
to set them straight with his "One Nation, After All" insights.

--he was there, pushing his take on public sociology. in a nutshell,
sociologists should write in public venues and play centrists and
counter the 'extremism' that feeds 'polarization'.  wolfe is obsessed
with finding some 'center' even as the material conditions for centrism
as a solution continues to be whittled away at on a daily basis.
