[lbo-talk] computer question: copying hard drives, swapping motherboards

I replied to Seth offlist about this, but I think it's worth spreading around.
I think Ravi raised the problem of changing hard drives as part of changing
computers. There's a thread at
http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=50009562&f=77909774&m=1400925745
on swapping motherboards while retaining the same Windows (either 2k or XP)
install.
It's clear, includes pix, and I've used it for three swaps. Those forums are
generally
useful for computer questions.
To copy hard drives, along with the other suggestions offered here you can use
Disk Copy by Powerquest, or you can create a copy through Norton Ghost. Disk
Copy may be out of print by now since Powerquest was bought by Symantec, but I
just used DC 4.0 for a hard drive upgrade and I recommend it if you can find
it.
