[lbo-talk] FDA to Women: Thou Shall Not Desire

I'm not quite sure that "Thou shall not desire" was exactly the message
here (and anyway, this wasn't FDA, it was an advisory panel). The
message is that there are legitimate safety questions about this drug,
since there have been bad effects from drugs messing with reproductive
hormones in the past, and the studies of this one so far were not
long-term enough, given that its prospective consumers would probably
be using it for many months or years.
I think it was a quite prudent recommendation, actually. P & G's motive
in putting this thing out was probably mostly to make oodles of money,
a la the boom on the male side kicked off by Viagra.
