quick summary:
a red-tailed male hawk that has formed a nest on one of the high-rises next to central park, has become a local attraction, with a dedicated set of fans keeping track of its various movements, from its attacks on pigeons and other birds to its mating successes. PBS even dedicated an entire hour to the predator. recently the building assn's decision to evict the bird (and its brood i presume) has sparked angry protests and vigils from the fans. the last i heard, some truce has been reached and the nest is expected to be back in business.
