don't know about the left according to stephen zunes, but my experience
is that much of the  pwogwessive weft (elmer fudd brigade) constantly
wets itself in excitement over the possibility of democracy (?) being
created anywhere else, but is helpless to create it at home...

if constantly voting for what ruling power offers is democracy, then the
soviets had it , just as much as we  think we have it...and please,
don't lecture about differences of degree among the common
folk...relatively speaking, theirs were as free and democratic as
ours...

what progressives need to do is get our country to stay out of the
ukraine,  iraq, israel-palestine, etc., and stop having wet dreams about
glorious democracy happening elsewhere...
