actually, much more indicative of the popular (?) trend to destroy public institutional life...while there is some truth in the fact that many younger are unable to write clearly, just as many cannot speak clearly, and even more have trouble thinking clearly, this does not relate to any unpopularity of libraries and their use...

in fact, the few i've visited, in my own community, in santa monica and in new york, were not only popular, but often crowded!...many libraries have become sort of community centers, where more than books are the action, though that still is the main reason for them...and it is the trend toward destroying community activity unrelated to private, shopping pursuits, that is bigger than any trend toward less reading or writing...
