Could you explain this. Why does criminalizing lesbianism sound goofy?

Seriously, lesbianism is not a big issue in Russia, and it is extremely common -- to be more precise, female bisexuality and sexual experimentation is very common. Practically every woman I know... Not even Stalin oulawed female homosexuality, as far as I know. The Soviet Union basically pretended it didn't exist, like they pretended prostitution didn't exist, the hookers at the hotels notwithstanding.

A friend of mine here is a lesbian. Well, she says she is bisexual, but she has had sex with men twice in the past decade, and those were both threesomes in which I suspect she was very passive. You get the idea. Her parents think it's just a phase she's going through, like all girls. She's 30.
