norm geras says And the reality is that Iraq now has the potential for a democratic future, as well as the potential for regression if the underground terrorist resistance assumes power.

--wow...ol' norm hasn't read much of the CIA reports from Iraq... ------------------------------- But on this issue the Western Left is divided. Do the bloody actions of the so-called resistance constitute a war of national liberation, making them worthy of left-wing support? Are Saddam Hussein's thugs comparable to the Timorese fighting Indonesian occupation?

--Is Norm relying on the same intelligence that led him to support the war because Saddam had massive weapons of destruction ready to go off in 45 minutes? interesting that he knows for certain that the only resistance is from 'saddam loyalists'...wouldn't have anything to do with anger at the occupation... ------------------------------------------ The fact is that in Iraq today, the Iraqi Left, as well as the vast majority of religious and political forces, denounce the campaign of bombings...

--actually if he was following the news more carefully he'd know that they condemn the killing of iraqi civilians, but not the killing of american/'coaltion' soldiers. duh. ------------------------------- Note that in the Pilgerian night all resistances appear to be the same colour,

---ha ha ha...this from the guy who mislabels the resistance as all saddam loyalists....
