Dr. Jonathan Farley has indicated to the PCSC that he intends to seek the Green nomination for the presidency. Dr. Farley is likely to participate in the presidential debate in Minnesota tomorrow.

His bio is below .

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Jonathan David Farley was the Green Party of Tennessee's candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in 2002. In 2001-2002, he was one of only four Americans to receive a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award to the United Kingdom. He is currently a professor of mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Professor Farley has written for the premiere black women's magazine Essence, for the hip hop magazine The Source, and he has been an invited essayist for Time Magazine Online and for The Guardian (one of Britain's major newspapers). Dr. Farley has also been an invited guest of BBC World News television to discuss the war on terror (the interview being filmed live from Ground Zero on the first anniversary of September 11) and he has been an invited guest on National Public Radio's popular "Tavis Smiley Show" to discuss blacks and the Green Party. In 2001, the leading African-American magazine Ebony named Dr. Farley a "Leader of the Future." On November 18, 2001, Dr. Farley was an invited speaker at the first major "Stop the War" demonstration in Britain, which drew 100,000 people.

Professor Farley received his D.Phil. from the University of Oxford, where he won Oxford's highest mathematics awards. Dr. Farley's recent work on counter-terrorism analysis, "Breaking Al Qaeda Cells," has been featured in Science News Online and The Chronicle of Higher Education. His essay, "My Fellow Americans: Looking Black on Red Tuesday," appeared in Beyond September 11: An Anthology of Dissent, which also featured essays by Naomi Klein and Noam Chomsky.
