Making things even more complicated, race is mediated by all the other micropolitical factors -- as well as vice versa. And class identity is the most complicated mediation of them all, because it taps into all the other identity- politics (otherwise, capital wouldn't be hegemonic, when it oh so clearly is). The multinational Left has to grapple with these issues openly and self- critically, instead of retreating to buzzwords and shopworn platitudes -- i.e. figure out how sexism impacts racism, how homophobia feeds into xenophobic nationalism, how pro-market ideology feeds into the destruction of the environment, how postmodernization feeds into neocolonization, etc.
